PABLO DIAZ BECOMES THE FIRST PORT DIRECTOR IN VICKSBURG’S HISTORY TO UPHELD THE CERTIFICATION
The Vicksburg Warren Economic Development Partnership announced today that Pablo Diaz has received professional certification as an Inland Marine Port Executive (IMPE). The certification is issued by The International Association of Maritime and Port Professionals (IAMPE) in partnership with the Loeb-Sullivan Graduate School of International Business and Logistics at Maine Maritime Academy.
To obtain the certification, Diaz completed a minimum of 36 hours of coursework that included training on International Transportation systems, Worldwide Port Trends, Inland Water Systems, Port Governance and Administration, Marine Terminal Operations, and Safety, Security, and Emergency Planning among others.
“The IAMPE welcomes this opportunity to work with the professionals at the port and the outstanding port staff in Vicksburg,” said Capt. Jeff Monroe, MM, AMPE, Director of Educational Programs and Standards for the Association. “We congratulate Pablo on achieving the professional certification of Inland Marine Port Executive, Class of 2018.”
Diaz received the certification along with Capt. Blake Welborn, AMPE-USCG Captain of the Port, Homer, LA; Robert Burt, PE, IMPE-Port and Waterways Director, Mississippi Department of Transportation; Martin Parker, IMPE, Transportation Industry Analyst, Office of Marine Highways and Passenger Services, US Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration; Mary Bourgoyne, PE, IMPE-Director of Ports, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development; Matt Yates, IMPE-Vice President, Louisville and Jefferson County Riverport International, and Blake Cooper, IMPM-Executive Director, Central Louisiana Regional Port.

This certification comes at an important time as we plan to continue to improve the Port’s operations, its master planning, and the design and execution of long term goals and plans”
The IAMPE is a non-profit educational institution that provides professional certification to port and maritime managers. Programs are reviewed and approved for certification by the Associations Board, comprised of over 20 industry professionals. Educational partners include the Loeb-Sullivan School at Maine Maritime Academy, the Connecticut Port Authority, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Georgia Ports Authority, North Atlantic Ports Association, Port of Alaska, Alaska Association of Harbormasters and Port Administrators, Houston Port Bureau, the Inland Rivers Port and Terminals Association, Oakley Ports, Lange-Stegman, Maine Port Authority, the Maritime Exchange of the Delaware Bay and River, Little Rock Port Authority, Port Milwaukee, Port of South Louisiana and HDR Engineering, and most recently. The IAMPE has educated and provided professional port certification in numerous ports throughout North America and overseas and has over 2,000 alumni and members.
