Vicksburg-Warren County is home to 15 public schools within the

Vicksburg-Warren County School District, 2 private schools and 2 parochial schools.

Five elementary schools in Warren County have successfully implemented The Leader in Me which is a whole-school transformation model based on Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®.

Two of these schools have been named the first Lighthouse schools in the state
of Mississippi by the FranklinCovey Organization. Only eighty-six other schools in the United States share the title.

A Certified Retirement City

The state of Mississippi has designated Vicksburg-Warren County as a Certified Retirement City after an intensive three-month screening process conducted by Hometown Mississippi Retirement, the state’s official retiree attraction program. In order to fulfill its mission to preserve the history and architecture of the Southern Cultural Heritage Center, the foundation provides cultural and artistic educational enrichment for the community by offering classes such as Ballroom Dance lessons, Culinary classes, exhibits, performances and lectures.

Vicksburg Senior Center

The center is owned and operated by the City of Vicksburg. It is a place where all seniors come together in a safe and friendly environment to participate in activities and enjoy good fellowship.  Activities include computer classes, crafts, art classes, sewing, piano, cooking demonstrations, social and line dancing, games, bridge, dominoes, canasta, bingo and much more. And everything is free of charge!
