Metal Manufacturing

Vicksburg is home to one of five DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRCs) operated by the DOD High Performance Computing ModernizationProgram (HPCMP). The center serves the high performance computing (HPC) needs of engineers and scientists throughout the DoD by providing a complete HPC environment, training, and expertise in the CFD, CSM, and EQM computational technology areas.

Automotive Manufacturing

With two major automotive manufacturers – Toyota, Nissan – already located in Mississippi, along with hundreds of other tier one and tier two suppliers serving their needs in the region, Vicksburg provides unique strategic advantages for the automotive sector including:

The CPKC network  provides access to the Meridian Speedway, a collaborative joint venture between Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Norfolk Southern. The 320-mile rail line between Meridian, MS, and Shreveport, LA offers the end-to-end steel-wheel interchange for intermodal users and it’s the fastest route from the Northeast to Dallas, Texas.

This industry supports approximately 62,000 jobs, comprising 4% of the state’s workforce, and one in four factory workers.

According to the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the total industry impact on Mississippi exceeds $17.4 billion annually, with 123,000 direct and indirect jobs contributing to $4.4 billion in wages.
