Amazon plans to invest $3 billion in a new data center campus in Vicksburg, a move state leaders say will deliver the largest private-sector investment in Warren County history and bring at least 200 full-time jobs to the region.
Gov. Tate Reeves announced the project on Thursday, calling it another major milestone in Mississippi’s push to attract high-tech development.
“Mississippi has built an economy that attracts world-class investment,” Reeves said. “This $3 billion investment by Amazon is the largest in Warren County’s history and another massive win for our state. Amazon’s commitment will create hundreds of direct jobs and supply-chain positions, further cementing Mississippi as a leader in American innovation. The future of technology is being built right here in the heart of the ‘Digital Delta.’”
The investment expands on Amazon’s previous commitments in the state. In January 2024, the company announced plans to invest at least $10 billion and create 1,000 direct jobs for data center campuses in Madison County. Since then, officials say thousands of indirect jobs have emerged through construction and supply-chain activity.
Amazon Web Services, the cloud-computing division leading the project, has positioned the Vicksburg investment as part of its broader push into generative artificial intelligence, high-performance cloud infrastructure, and specialized artificial intelligence hardware.
“Amazon’s $3 billion expansion into Vicksburg proves once again that Mississippi delivers what tech leaders need — reliable energy, top-tier talent, and speed to market,” Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork said. “We get companies like Amazon up and running fast so they can quickly turn investments into results. That means some of the world’s most sought-after jobs are being created right here at home while strengthening our tax base. And with Vicksburg’s strong infrastructure and supportive leadership, Amazon has found the perfect fit for Mississippi to lead the next wave of tech-driven development.”
The Vicksburg project will use incentives previously approved through Mississippi’s Major Economic Impact Authority for Amazon’s Madison County sites. Warren County has also committed support for the development.
